It's fun, it's simple, it's a great cause! Jeans for Genes is a national appeal where everyone across the UK is asked to throw out the usual dress rules, jump into their jeans and donate £1 schools / £2 companies to help children with genetic disorders.
2005 is Jeans for Genes 10th Anniversary and their birthday wish is to raise £4 million! On Friday 7th October 2005 you are invited to the biggest 10th
birthday party in the UK - please help us celebrate!
Jeans for Genes, organised by four national charities, raises funds for research into serious and often life-threatening genetic disorders affecting thousands of children. Funds also provide laboratory equipment and facilities, as well as valuable advice and support for families.
In the UK, one baby in every 33 is born with a genetic disorder or birth defect... that's one born every 30 minutes whose life could be affected. There are over 4,000 recognised genetic disorders, some of which have no current treatment. Pioneering research to develop such treatments is being funded through Jeans for Genes and is bringing great hope to families.
There are many ways to celebrate Jeans for Genes Day, you could simply wear your jeans and donate £1 schools / £2 companies, or you could don your denims and organise some fabulous birthday themed fundraising events. You could sell tickets to a birthday party or a denim decade disco! You might even like to hide presents and hold a full scale treasure hunt with maps and clues - remember to charge an entrance fee!
Jeans for Genes Day 2005 will be held on Friday 7th October, but if you can't make this date simply pick another - you can hold your fundraising activity on any day of the year!
It's easy to organise in any type of organisation, and there are free fundraising packs containing everything you would need to organise a Jeans for Genes Day in your company, school or other organisation. To register for a free fundraising pack today and get ready to support Jeans for Genes!
